Dr. Marie Bismark is a public health physician, health lawyer, health services researcher. She is now an advanced trainee in psychiatry and serves on the Board of Directors of several health sector organizations including The Royal Women’s Hospital. She has previously completed a Harkness Fellowship in Healthcare Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Bismark has published widely on the interface between clinician wellbeing, patient safety, and healthcare regulation. Marie is the lead author of the recently published book: “Experiences of Health Workers in the COVID-19 pandemic: In Their Own Words”.
Dr. Bismark joins Explore The Space to discuss providing inpatient mental health and addiction care to people admitted with Covid, the importance of rebuilding trust with marginalized people, and writing a book about raw experiences of healthcare workers in their own words and the friction between an overworked healthcare workforce and the need for restorative rest

Dr. Art Kellerman is Professor and Senior Vice President for Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University and CEO of VCU Health System. He also is a public health expert especially around the epidemiology and prevention of firearm-related violence and injuries.
In 1993 Dr. Kellerman helped author “Gun Ownership as a Risk Factor for Homicide in the Home”, a paper which led to the Dickey Amendment and a slammed door on further gun violence and injury prevention research. Hearing his perspective and insight is absolutely fascinating.
